So lately things have been crazy, which resulted in a complete lack of updates on my part.  Not that it particularly matters, but still.  Anyways…

I’ve been revisiting all of my interests and paraphernalia thereof that have accumulated over the past year, what with end-of-semester packing going on for everyone, and I found some really cool stuff.  I must say, I’ve become a pretty interesting person over the past year.  Not that I’m trying to be egotistical or anything.  I’m just saying.

First and foremost among my new interests is world mythology.  Though I was quite the Greek mythology buff from fifth grade well into twelfth, my interest in it kind of tapered off once I came to college and became a psychology major.  Huzzah for the transition back into a literary field!  I’ve picked up a few library books regarding mythology, one of the most notable being Thomas D. Worthens’s The Myth of Replacement: Stars, Gods, and Order in the Universe.  While I don’t profess to being an expert in the field of comparative mythology (heavens, no), I must say that this book has, so far, been easy to follow with a few exceptions regarding academic allusions to expert mythologists. 

Following along the same lines, I picked up a book by Northrop Frye and Jay Macpherson entitled Biblical and Classical Myths: The Mythological Framework of Western Culture.  I am currently enjoying the first section, which addresses biblical mythology, and I look forward to the Classical section, seeing as the biblical section brought to light a lot of stuff that I had never really considered.  I really liked the casual banter characteristic of this book, and the establishment of theoretical archetypes is really cool (check out the section on “parody demonic” and “manifest demonic,” especially).  If you go to UGA, though, please don’t request either of these books because I’m still only halfway through them.

As for ballet…well, I regretfully haven’t had time to practice at all because I kind of have a boyfriend now.  Yeah, it’s sudden.  He’s a really sweet guy, but I’ll spare details for now because I’ve basically been telling a lot of my friends about him, and I don’t really feel like giving the same explanation for the umpteenth time.  Ump. Hump.  Hump-catty.  Go see the “powerthirst” video on youtube right now if you haven’t already.  Suffice it to say that we have a LOT in common, and he’s cute as hell.

Oh, and if anyone cares to contact me regarding pokemon teams and such, feel free.  At the moment, I’m making a (hopefully) balanced team that will inevitably be ignored in metagame due to its heavily UU members.  They are:

You know what I just realized makes me really happy?  The following things:

1.  Going to bed early.  Yeah, snuggling with a guy in bed is nice, but it’s also fine just to lie there with all my (very) luxurious blankets and wrap up in a cocoon of warmth and fuzz.  Ooooh, yeah.

2.  A good egg salad sandwich.  I mean, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a bad one, but you know. 

3.  My new pseudo-waldorf salad.  It consists of apples (janigold), raisins, walnuts, and Dannon Light and Fit vanilla yogurt.  SO tasty.  Trust me on this.

4.  MILK!  I cannot live without a healthy swig of some good skim milk everyday.  If you want me to love you, just offer me a gallon (not a saucer; I’m not a kitty) of milk.

5.  Milla Jovovich.  Umm…hello?  This one’s a no-brainer.  Just look at her eyes.  Or her lips.  I’d kill to have those lips.  Well…I’d kill a cockroach or something.  But it’s still killing.

And then my little sister texted me today to ask what my favorite pokemon was.  I said Ninetales.  Now, Ninetales is a pokemon that just hasn’t gotten the respect (or new evolution) that it deserves.  While usable in its current final evolution, Ninetales could benefit from a bolstered defense or (ideally) special attack stat.  I mean, it’s movepool is quite good for an annoyer, but apparently the newest roster from D/P has summarily ended the reign of the annoyer.  Ninetales, which could WoW physical sweepers as well as successfully land hard hits using a Nasty Plot/Flamethrower/Dark Pulse combo, now has to contend with pokemon that nullify the utility of its compensatorily high special defense stat.  D/P introduced pokemon that can instantly down Ninetales, which is just unfair.  I mean, just look at the pokedex entry for the thing.  It’s supposed to be a legend, for mack’s sake!  But regardless of how useless Ninetales becomes compared to new pokemon generations, I’ll still use it on my teams.  And why’s that?  Because Ninetales is one of my favorite things!  And so it belongs on the permanent Top Ten list of things that make me happy!  The remainder is to be filled out as this blog continues.
